Course Description

On Top of the World Communities, Inc. is one of the oldest privately held construction and development companies in Florida, specializing in desirable Florida active adult retirement living. The company, founded by Sidney Colen, began building in 1947 and has constructed homes for literally tens of thousands of satisfied buyers. Following the success of the first On Top of the World condominium community in Clearwater, Florida, Colen’s interest grew to include central Florida where, in 1975, he purchased a large parcel of land in Ocala formerly known as Circle Square Ranch. Development began on this land in 1982 and continues today. For over 60 years, Sidney Colen served as CEO for On Top of the World Communities. Today, Kenneth D. Colen, Sidney Colen’s son, is the company’s President and CEO, overseeing the development and operation of the Ocala property for over 35 years. At On Top of the World Communities, you’ll discover the lifestyle and community of your dreams. Currently under development are three neighborhoods - Stonebridge at Candler Hills, Windsor, and Renaissance Park. A wealth of amenities located within and just outside the gated residential community provide activities both day and night. Helping others enjoy life to the fullest - it was the vision from the beginning and continues as a Colen family tradition.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions about Links

Get answers to common questions about playing Links and what to expect.

How difficult is Links for mid-handicap golfers?

From a scoring perspective, Links challenges consistency. This slope level makes it manageable compared to championship venues. The course rating of 71.9 reflects on scoring relative to par 72.

What tees should a 15 handicap play at Links?

A 15 handicap golfer should consider tees closer to 4740 yards. The back tees extend to 5604.0 yards, which makes approach shots longer and scoring more challenging.

What is considered a good score at Links?

With a course rating of 71.9 and par 72, a mid-handicap golfer would typically score in the mid to high 80s. Stronger players aiming to break 72 must manage approach shots and avoid penalty strokes.

How long is Links and how does yardage affect play?

Stretching to 5604.0 yards from the back tees, distance is less of a barrier than precision.

What type of course is Links and how should I play it?

The course follows a traditional Parkland design philosophy. Overall, the setup will reward players who place the ball in safe positions far from hazards. Also, type of shot is more crucial rather than just trying to gain distance.

What features make Links strategically challenging?

The combination of a slope rating of 119.0 and yardage reaching 5604.0 yards creates consistent pressure on approach shots. You will need to balance risk and reward, especially on longer par 4s and protected greens.
