Course Description
Once the site of a prosperous bootleggers operation during prohibition, Whisky Run Golf Club is a picturesque 27 hole golf course located near the shores of Lake Erie just east of Port Colborne. Each of the three nines is unique in its design, length and challenge. After purchasing the property in 1984, owner Lou Nieuwland took a walk around the perimeter, came home, and drew up the plans for a golf course. The club's name references the numerous whisky bottles that were randomly discovered throughout the property when the club was being constructed.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions about Fox
Get answers to common questions about playing Fox and what to expect.
How difficult is Fox for mid-handicap golfers?
From a scoring perspective, Fox challenges consistency. With a slope of 120, it remains playable for a wide handicap range. The course rating of 70 reflects on scoring relative to par 36.
What tees should a 15 handicap play at Fox?
A 15 handicap golfer should consider tees closer to 6000 yards. The back tees extend to 6500 yards, which makes approach shots longer and scoring more challenging.
What is considered a good score at Fox?
With a course rating of 70 and par 36, a mid-handicap golfer would typically score in the mid to high 80s. Stronger players aiming to break 36 must manage approach shots and avoid penalty strokes.
How long is Fox and how does yardage affect play?
Measuring 6500 yards at maximum length, scoring depends more on placement than raw power.
What type of course is Fox and how should I play it?
Fox is designed as a Parkland layout. Overall, the setup will reward players who place the ball in safe positions far from hazards. Also, type of shot is more crucial rather than just trying to gain distance.
What features make Fox strategically challenging?
The combination of a slope rating of 120 and yardage reaching 6500 yards creates consistent pressure on approach shots. You will need to balance risk and reward, especially on longer par 4s and protected greens.
