Course Description
The 18-hole "Wilderness" course at the Wilderness Golf Course facility in Lake Jackson, Texas features 7,106 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72 . The course rating is 72.9 and it has a slope rating of 126 on Bermuda grass. Designed by Jeffrey D. Brauer, ASGCA, the Wilderness golf course opened in 2004. The Wilderness Golf Course opened in 2003 and features the handy work of course architect Jeff Brauer. The expertly routed course surrounds 50 acres of wetlands on the 400-acre site. Numerous wetlands and streams stretch through the course, but the course was designed so that no walking or riding bridges span the wetlands. Still a bit undiscovered, the course offers a unique, peaceful alternative, only 45 minutes from the somewhat overbuilt Houston market, where players can combine a nature walk with a challenging and enjoyable golf course. KemperSports Management, Inc. manages this facility.

What type of course is The Wilderness Golf Club and how should I play it?
The course follows a traditional Parkland design philosophy. Overall, the setup will reward players who place the ball in safe positions far from hazards. Also, type of shot is more crucial rather than just trying to gain distance.
