Course Description

Santa Ana Golf Club, Inc. is one of the several Santa Ana Pueblo Tribal enterprises. It consists of Santa Ana Golf Club, Twin Warriors Golf Club, Prairie Star Restaurant & Wine Bar, Wind Dancer Bar & Grill and Atush at Twin Warriors. The Pueblo of Santa Ana is a Native American tribe with reservation lands that include a strip of New Mexico's fertile Rio Grande valley. The members of Santa Ana, the Tamayame (the name of the people in our Keres language), have lived in their present location approximately sixteen miles north of Albuquerque, New Mexico, since at least the early 1500s. Since the early 1980s the Pueblo has actively pursued a strategy of developing tribal enterprises, seeing economic independence as crucial to maintaining and safeguarding their traditional concepts and values. We invite you to enhance your visit by enjoying our Pueblo Partners, the Santa Ana Star Casino Hotel and the Hyatt Regency Tamaya, just minutes from the courses.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions about Cheena/Star

Get answers to common questions about playing Cheena/Star and what to expect.

How difficult is Cheena/Star for mid-handicap golfers?

Cheena/Star is regarded as a strategically complex layout. With a slope of 120, it remains playable for a wide handicap range. The course rating of 70 reflects on scoring relative to par 72.

What tees should a 15 handicap play at Cheena/Star?

A 15 handicap golfer should consider tees closer to 6000 yards. The back tees extend to 6500 yards, which makes approach shots longer and scoring more challenging.

What is considered a good score at Cheena/Star?

With a course rating of 70 and par 72, a mid-handicap golfer would typically score in the mid to high 80s. Stronger players aiming to break 72 must manage approach shots and avoid penalty strokes.

How long is Cheena/Star and how does yardage affect play?

Measuring 6500 yards at maximum length, scoring depends more on placement than raw power.

What type of course is Cheena/Star and how should I play it?

Cheena/Star is designed as a Parkland layout. Overall, the setup will reward players who place the ball in safe positions far from hazards. Also, type of shot is more crucial rather than just trying to gain distance.

What features make Cheena/Star strategically challenging?

The combination of a slope rating of 120 and yardage reaching 6500 yards creates consistent pressure on approach shots. You will need to balance risk and reward, especially on longer par 4s and protected greens.
