Course Description
Royal Palms Golf Course is a family owned, family run business. It was built in the early 70′s as one of the many projects of the Royal Palms area development here in Mesa, AZ. Initially, the land had to be used as a retention area or "run off" for the surrounding houses and neighborhoods. The city would not allow houses to be built and advised to put in a neighborhood park. The owner had a better idea and with a few tractors, hard work, and dedication we have had Royal Palms Golf Course in the Valley of the Sun for over 40 years.Royal Palms Golf Course has a fun and challenging Links style 9-hole layout that will bring satisfaction to every player. There are three Par-4′s and six Par-3′s with water and bunkers on 6 of the 9 holes. With a Par of 30, low scores aren't as common as one would think because of the narrow fairways and water hazards. Royal Palms will challenge even the most skilled player which in turn provides a great golf experience. This course is a perfect place for beginners and family members to come out and enjoy themselves.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions about Royal Palms
Get answers to common questions about playing Royal Palms and what to expect.
How difficult is Royal Palms for mid-handicap golfers?
Royal Palms presents a demanding test. The 120 slope rating keeps it accessible for developing players. The course rating of 70 reflects on scoring relative to par 30.
What tees should a 15 handicap play at Royal Palms?
A 15 handicap golfer should consider tees closer to 6000 yards. The back tees extend to 6500 yards, which makes approach shots longer and scoring more challenging.
What is considered a good score at Royal Palms?
With a course rating of 70 and par 30, a mid-handicap golfer would typically score in the mid to high 80s. Stronger players aiming to break 30 must manage approach shots and avoid penalty strokes.
How long is Royal Palms and how does yardage affect play?
At a full length of 6500 yards, it balances distance with positional strategy.
What type of course is Royal Palms and how should I play it?
Architecturally, it reflects a Parkland style. Overall, the setup will reward players who place the ball in safe positions far from hazards. Also, type of shot is more crucial rather than just trying to gain distance.
What features make Royal Palms strategically challenging?
The combination of a slope rating of 120 and yardage reaching 6500 yards creates consistent pressure on approach shots. You will need to balance risk and reward, especially on longer par 4s and protected greens.
