Course Description

This is the setting that inspired the great Jack Nicklaus to create a course as unique as himself. This par 71, 18-hole course winds along a gentle valley floor offering you a spectacular setting as your golfing skills are tested to the fullest. Winner of numerous awards since its opening in 1996, Nicklaus North has played host to events such as the Skins Game and the Shell's Wonderful World of Golf, welcoming some of golf's biggest names such as Jack Nicklaus, Nick Faldo, Ernie Els, Greg Norman, Fred Couples, John Daly, Vijay Singh and Stephen Ames to name a few. Just minutes from the resort village of Whistler, British Columbia, Nicklaus North stands out as one of the great courses in North America. It's no wonder this is only one of a few rare golf courses in the world bearing Jack Nicklaus' name. The joys of Nicklaus North don't end on the golf course. The charming and beautifully appointed Clubhouse at Nicklaus North is a modern-day mountain lodge equipped with all the amenities for your golf getaway, special event or wedding reception. Just minutes from Whistler and a scenic highway drive from downtown Vancouver, the Clubhouse is a perfect complement to a golf course bearing the Nicklaus name. Browse the Golf Shop, savour fine dining at the Table Nineteen Restaurant, or soak in the breathtaking alpine setting with a cocktail on the patio overlooking glacier fed Green Lake.

How difficult is The Quail for mid-handicap golfers?

The Quail is regarded as a strategically complex layout. At 134.0, it provides challenge without being extreme. The course rating of 72.1 reflects on scoring relative to par 72.

What tees should a 15 handicap play at The Quail?

A 15 handicap golfer should consider tees closer to 5596 yards. The back tees extend to 6588.0 yards, which makes approach shots longer and scoring more challenging.

What is considered a good score at The Quail?

With a course rating of 72.1 and par 72, a mid-handicap golfer would typically score in the mid to high 80s. Stronger players aiming to break 72 must manage approach shots and avoid penalty strokes.

How long is The Quail and how does yardage affect play?

At a full length of 6588.0 yards, it balances distance with positional strategy.

What type of course is The Quail and how should I play it?

Architecturally, it reflects a Parkland style. Overall, the setup will reward players who place the ball in safe positions far from hazards. Also, type of shot is more crucial rather than just trying to gain distance.

What features make The Quail strategically challenging?

The combination of a slope rating of 134.0 and yardage reaching 6588.0 yards creates consistent pressure on approach shots. You will need to balance risk and reward, especially on longer par 4s and protected greens.
