Course Description
Our mission is to provide park, recreational, and open space facilities of regional significance. In fulfilling this mission our objectives are: To be responsive to community needs, To be environmentally sound, To be adaptable, and To be economically feasible. Mill Creek Park was established in 1891 by Volney Rogers as the first park district in Ohio. Mill Creek Park is the largest area of the MetroParks encompassing 2,882 acres of the MetroParks' 4,400 acres. Recreation opportunities include hiking, biking, boating, fishing, golf, tennis, volleyball, picnicking, cross country skiing, sledding, and much more. Mill Creek Park offers 20 miles of drives and 15 miles of foot trails. Mill Creek flows through the Park in a northerly direction supplying water to three lakes. Mill Creek Park extends along the Mill Creek Valley from Western Reserve Road to the confluence of Mill Creek and the Mahoning River. The northern section of Mill Creek Park includes Lanterman's Falls and the Mill Creek Gorge. This area offers breathtaking views with its cascading waters, steep hillsides beautifully covered with deciduous and evergreen trees, bold sandstone outcroppings, and numerous grass-covered meadows. South of the gorge the land is rolling and partly wooded. Since voters approved converting to Mill Creek MetroParks in 1989, park lands have continued to enhance life in the community.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions about Par 3
Get answers to common questions about playing Par 3 and what to expect.
How difficult is Par 3 for mid-handicap golfers?
Par 3 presents a demanding test. This slope level makes it manageable compared to championship venues. The course rating of 70 reflects on scoring relative to par 54.
What tees should a 15 handicap play at Par 3?
A 15 handicap golfer should consider tees closer to 6000 yards. The back tees extend to 6500 yards, which makes approach shots longer and scoring more challenging.
What is considered a good score at Par 3?
With a course rating of 70 and par 54, a mid-handicap golfer would typically score in the mid to high 80s. Stronger players aiming to break 54 must manage approach shots and avoid penalty strokes.
How long is Par 3 and how does yardage affect play?
Stretching to 6500 yards from the back tees, it does not overwhelm length but rewards accuracy.
What type of course is Par 3 and how should I play it?
The course follows a traditional Parkland design philosophy. Overall, the setup will reward players who place the ball in safe positions far from hazards. Also, type of shot is more crucial rather than just trying to gain distance.
What features make Par 3 strategically challenging?
The combination of a slope rating of 120 and yardage reaching 6500 yards creates consistent pressure on approach shots. You will need to balance risk and reward, especially on longer par 4s and protected greens.
