Course Description

Golfbaan Dirkshorn is een relatief jonge 18-holes par-72 golfbaan, aangelegd op 55 ha grond en kan omschreven worden als een prachtige polder- weidebaan of zoals een enkeling de baan typeert, een inner linksbaan. De baan is gelegen langs de N245 Alkmaar - Schagen en is een ontwerp van landschaps- en golfbaanarchitect Alan Rijks.De golfbaan heeft de NGF A-status en is geschikt voor club- en nationale wedstrijden en is in 2009 officieel geopend. De baan kenmerkt zich door geonduleerde en mooie fairways, snelle en egale greens, interessante rough en waterpartijen, veel flora en fauna en slechts enkele kleine boomgroepen waardoor het open karakter is behouden. Door een fantastische drainage biedt het de mogelijkheid om 365 dagen per jaar, uitgezonderd extreme weersomstandigheden, te spelen.De baan is aangelegd en wordt onderhouden volgens de regels van het sinds 2011 toegekende ecolabel "GEO/Committed to Green". Twee specifiek natuurelementen zijn aangebracht, de vleermuizenkelder bij hole 1 en 2 en twee paddenpoelen waarvan een tussen hole 3 en 12 en een naast hole 14. De gecreëerde vogelbeschermingszone staat garant voor rust waardoor het zich leent voor een broedgebied. In de jaren dat de baan nu in gebruik is heeft zich een nieuwe wereld van flora en fauna ontwikkeld op en in de golfbaan. De golfbaan en het terrein worden intensief en professioneel onderhouden door een greenkeepersteam van de De Enk.De baan is natuurlijk ingebed binnen de omgevingsfactoren van authentieke lintdorpen uit de Gemeente Schagen (voorheen de Gemeente Harenkarspel met de Noord-Hollandse dorpen 't Rijpje, Dirkshorn, Eenigenburg, Groenveld, Kalverdijk, Krabbendam, Schoorldam (gedeeltelijk), Sint Maarten, Stroet, Tuitjenhorn, Valkkoog, Waarland en Warmenhuizen en op afstand meanderend de groene Westfriese Omrinkdijk). De golfbaan is de thuisbasis van golfclub Dirkshorn.
