Course Description

The National Golf Center was created in 2005 with the firm purpose of bringing golf to the whole world.Designed by Dave Thomas, architect of Belfry, Abama and Terre Blanche, among others, it recalls the typical British links. It is a field that provides a challenge for players of all levels. A fun and friendly field. The National Golf Center has hosted important professional competitions, such as the Spanish Open in 2007 and the Madrid Masters in 2009. The National Golf Center is a field open to all players. It is located in the city of Madrid, in a privileged location, very well connected with the M30 and M40. We are experts in conducting tournaments and all kinds of corporate events. More than 500 tournaments organized by the National Golf Center in recent years have endorsed us. In the summer of 2016 the National Golf Center has faced an ambitious process of improvement and transformation of the field, through the modification of the entire irrigation system. It has become an example of environmental sustainability with efficient management of resources and use of reclaimed water. As a result, we now have a friendlier, easier and more playable field for all fans. In addition, the aesthetic has been modified, becoming a field of contrasts and with its own and different personality. It has been possible to raise the quality standard of maintenance of the facilities, responding to the commitment of the National Golf Center to be a national reference in the management and operation of a golf course.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions about Championship

Get answers to common questions about playing Championship and what to expect.

How difficult is Championship for mid-handicap golfers?

Championship is regarded as a strategically complex layout. This slope level makes it manageable compared to championship venues. The course rating of 70 reflects on scoring relative to par 72.

What tees should a 15 handicap play at Championship?

A 15 handicap golfer should consider tees closer to 6000 yards. The back tees extend to 6500 yards, which makes approach shots longer and scoring more challenging.

What is considered a good score at Championship?

With a course rating of 70 and par 72, a mid-handicap golfer would typically score in the mid to high 80s. Stronger players aiming to break 72 must manage approach shots and avoid penalty strokes.

How long is Championship and how does yardage affect play?

Stretching to 6500 yards from the back tees, it does not overwhelm length but rewards accuracy.

What type of course is Championship and how should I play it?

The course follows a traditional Parkland design philosophy. Overall, the setup will reward players who place the ball in safe positions far from hazards. Also, type of shot is more crucial rather than just trying to gain distance.

What features make Championship strategically challenging?

The combination of a slope rating of 120 and yardage reaching 6500 yards creates consistent pressure on approach shots. You will need to balance risk and reward, especially on longer par 4s and protected greens.
