Course Description
Since 1925 Blue Hill Country Club has been known as one of New England's most cherished private golf clubs. Located just 15 minutes outside of Boston, Blue Hill Country Club is situated at the base of Blue Hill, fittingly named for the bluish hue of its visible granite faces. Designed in 1925 by Eugene "Skip" Wogan, the 18-hole Championship Course has fully matured into a golfer's haven. Known for its playability, Blue Hill Country Club hosted the 1956 PGA Championship and was the home course for the LPGA Tour from 1991-1997. In 1961 Wogan's son Phil masterfully crafted the very popular Challenger Course, a 9-hole layout that has proven to be a demanding test of skill. Multiple tee boxes, fairway mounding, and undulating greens make a round of golf on all 27 holes enjoyable for players of all ages and skill levels. The club also has an in ground outdoor heated swimming pool, wrap around patio and bar area, and multiple dining options for members and outside guests.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions about Championship
Get answers to common questions about playing Championship and what to expect.
How difficult is Championship for mid-handicap golfers?
From a scoring perspective, Championship challenges consistency. A slope rating of 134.0 suggests a moderately demanding round. The course rating of 76.9 reflects on scoring relative to par 72.
What tees should a 15 handicap play at Championship?
A 15 handicap golfer should consider tees closer to 5632 yards. The back tees extend to 6318.0 yards, which makes approach shots longer and scoring more challenging.
What is considered a good score at Championship?
With a course rating of 76.9 and par 72, a mid-handicap golfer would typically score in the mid to high 80s. Stronger players aiming to break 72 must manage approach shots and avoid penalty strokes.
How long is Championship and how does yardage affect play?
Measuring 6318.0 yards at maximum length, scoring depends more on placement than raw power.
What type of course is Championship and how should I play it?
Championship is designed as a Parkland layout. Overall, the setup will reward players who place the ball in safe positions far from hazards. Also, type of shot is more crucial rather than just trying to gain distance.
What features make Championship strategically challenging?
The combination of a slope rating of 134.0 and yardage reaching 6318.0 yards creates consistent pressure on approach shots. You will need to balance risk and reward, especially on longer par 4s and protected greens.
