Course Description
Antognolla Luxury Resort and Residences involves the full-scale reconstruction of the medieval estate of Antognolla in the Italian region of Umbria, into a luxury hotel and residential facility managed by a leading international operator. The project will include a luxury hotel with 72 rooms, and more than 70 private residences. The Antognolla estate is approximately 1,400 acres in size, much of the site is located in an area characterized by steep contours, and dense forest making for a breathtaking backdrop for the development. Antognolla is located approximately 20km north of the regional capital of Perugia and within close proximity to the regional border with Tuscany. The dominant feature of the site is the existence of the 12th century Antognolla castle and Old Borgo. Occupying a central location with panoramic views of the estate, the castle is of major historical significance. It has been constructed on the ruins of an old Benedictine monastery and within the basement is a 6th century crypt, containing hand painted frescoes of the last supper. Antognolla also has an 18 hole championship golf course designed by legendary golf course architect Robert Trent Jones jr. The course has recently been subject of a multi-million euro renovation and has been relaunched ready for the 2019 season. The on-site restaurant (La Boiola) is also operational offering exquisite traditional dishes made with the freshest of locally sourced ingredients. The project is a pioneer in the region and has already established an industry prominence internationally. The vision is for Antognolla to set new benchmarks for quality and guest experience in the luxury country retreat sector. Antognolla will be underpinned with core themes of gastronomy, health and wellbeing, cultural experiences, a reconnection with nature and unrivalled levels of personalized service.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions about Antognolla
Get answers to common questions about playing Antognolla and what to expect.
How difficult is Antognolla for mid-handicap golfers?
Players often find Antognolla technically exacting. With a slope of 120, it remains playable for a wide handicap range. The course rating of 70 reflects on scoring relative to par 71.
What tees should a 15 handicap play at Antognolla?
A 15 handicap golfer should consider tees closer to 6000 yards. The back tees extend to 6500 yards, which makes approach shots longer and scoring more challenging.
What is considered a good score at Antognolla?
With a course rating of 70 and par 71, a mid-handicap golfer would typically score in the mid to high 80s. Stronger players aiming to break 71 must manage approach shots and avoid penalty strokes.
How long is Antognolla and how does yardage affect play?
Measuring 6500 yards at maximum length, scoring depends more on placement than raw power.
What type of course is Antognolla and how should I play it?
Antognolla is designed as a Parkland layout. Overall, the setup will reward players who place the ball in safe positions far from hazards. Also, type of shot is more crucial rather than just trying to gain distance.
What features make Antognolla strategically challenging?
The combination of a slope rating of 120 and yardage reaching 6500 yards creates consistent pressure on approach shots. You will need to balance risk and reward, especially on longer par 4s and protected greens.
